late August 2018 late August 2018
I am really trying to evaluate my life and better myself mentally and start 2019 off right and in a good space. So, on my journey to becoming healthier, I’m starting with things I can control. I mentioned in a previous post that I am also embarking on a healthy hair journey. Next up, my body!
I have always struggled with my weight and eating healthy and it has always coincided with my mental health at that moment. I am the textbook definition of an emotional eater so whatever I eat or don’t eat is dictated by how I’m feeling. Unfortunately the last year, year and half have just been a terrible emotional time for me. That lead me to gain 40 lbs in 2 years and ultimately 100 lbs more than what I weighed when I was eating healthy and exercising.
As I try to think back to when I was at my healthiest, I ate regularly, both healthy and not so healthy meals, and I exercised daily. These days, I get about 30 minutes of exercise four times a week but my diet is absolute trash. Thinking about how badly I’ve truly let myself go is embarrassing and just plain sad. It’s like I know what to do and how to do it but I just can’t. But, I want to force myself to do better because I know how great I felt physically and emotionally when I had a healthy lifestyle. Definitely didn’t feel sluggish and tired all the time that’s for sure. My skin, hair, and body also looked better. I want all of that back.

Here’s how I plan to get back on track by the new year:
- take my multi-vitamin daily
- intermittent fasting – skipping one meal a day
- eat at least one serving of fruit and/or vegetables a day
- drink a minimum of 10 cups of water a day.
- limit sugary snacks to once a week
- weigh myself once a week
- log every meal in fitness app
- exercise 30 minutes 5 times a week
These are things I did when I was at my healthiest so I’m hoping these still help!
I’ve inserted some photos throughout this post I found of my full body and face to serve as a starting point of what I look like physically. I’m still the same weight so I thought they were accurate enough.
I plan to check in weekly to update on my progress. Stay tuned!
